5 Free NYC Secrets You May Not Have Known, Until Now..

Did you know that it is possible to get something for FREE in NYC? It’s almost shocking isn’t it? Since we were always taught that nothing in life comes free, (especially not in NYC) it’s hard to believe that you can catch a break in this city. Well I decided to share 5 tips that you may have not known. Some tips are totally free but some you have to give a little to get a little, but hey isn’t that how life works anyway?

1. Get a Free Personal Shopper Experience

Select H&M and Top Shop locations offer a free personal shopper experience! All you have to do is contact them, tell them your personal style preference, your size and what kind of outfits you’re interested in and they will pull outfits for you to try on. The service is free and you are not forced to purchase anything. With H&M you receive 20% off your first purchase when you use this service. These services are offered in the 5th avenue stores and you can make your appointment today!

2. Receive a Free Cupcake Every day

I mean why wouldn’t you want a free cupcake? That’s like turning down happiness if you ask me. Every day Georgetown Cupcake offers a free flavor of the day cupcake to the first 100 customers (1 per customer) at each of their locations. If that’s not enough free sweetness for you, Sprinkles Cupcakes offers a “BOGO” when you whisper their secret word. You can find out the secret word of each day on their twitter page.

3. Share Your Uber Code and Receive a Free Ride

I have a new found addiction to Uber and it’s getting way too expensive. So one way I save on my travel, is sharing my code. When you share your code and someone signs up for Uber, they receive a free ride up to $20 and so do you. Want to use my code? (And I truly hope you do.) Download the Uber app and enter my code: 5EMKV

4. Share Your Hotel Tonight Code and Receive $25 Off

Another code I have is for Hotel Tonight. On this app you can score great deals on last minute hotel reservations. I used this app for my stay at Dream Midtown. When you share your code, and someone uses it and books a hotel, you receive $25 off your next stay. So use my Hotel Tonight code: PGIBBS11  I would love another staycation!

Happy 2 Year Blogiversary SimplyPamarie!

I had to turn on King Bey, aka Beyonce to start this celebration! Today I’m celebrating my 2 year Blogiversary! What is a blogiversary you ask? According to Urban Dictionary, it’s the yearly anniversary of someones web-log (blog.) So yes, simplypamarie.com has been providing you all the food, travel and entertainment knowledge you want to know for the past 2 years! This celebration is dear to me for so many reasons that were never shared before. I think right now is the perfect time to share them.

Simplypamarie.com was started at a time when I was completely unhappy with my job. I was having one of those “woe is me” moments and my sister came to my room and completely went off on me. She said Pam “why are you sitting around feeling sorry for yourself? You have talent, you have drive, start that blog you’ve been talking about. Start it now!” So I wiped all my tears away and began formulating ideas for my blog. Thank you sister for being my muse and motivation.

Now here we are 2 years later celebrating something that probably saved my life. It gave me a new outlook on life and honestly the motivation to fight some of the hardest battles ever. Very few people also know that I was recently unemployed for 10 months, after being laid off from a job. I know you’re thinking this girl been traveling, eating everywhere, and living luxuriously. Don’t let the Instagram pictures fool you, life was REAL. Really really real! Fortunately, I had great friends and family who supported and encouraged me. Moreso, simplypamarie.com was the light in my darkest days. Blogging and sharing my passions with my readers, and receiving comments and questions put a smile on my face when I really didn’t want to smile.

But enough about that. I really want to thank my readers, my family and my friends for participating in simplypamarie.com I’ve experienced some amazing restaurants, built great connections, met some really cool fellow bloggers through @blackgirlswhoblog and also traveled places that people dream of. I thank you for experiencing all of that with me. I’m looking forward to bringing you more beneficial content. Remember that this blog is most importantly here to teach you how to “Live Life Simply.” It is here to give you all the details you need and also show you how to save money as well. (Groupon, LivingSocial, HotelTonight Uber and Restaurant Week are your friends.)

Okay so in honor of today’s celebrating, I’m hosting another contest! This one is easy, so don’t worry. All you have to do is comment on this post about ANYTHING pertaining to my blog. For example, it can be a question for me, a comment about an experience you had from something I suggested on my blog, a suggestion on improving my blog or a restaurant you think I should try. All comments are welcome. I will select a winner on March 3. The winner will receive a $25 Visa Gift Card and a full one day of events planned by me.

Annie

Annie is a childhood favorite of mine. My sister and I have watched Annie together for years and we probably know every lyric to each song from “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow” to “It’s The Hard Knock Life.” So when I heard Mr. Jamie Foxx and little Quvenzhané Wallis were starring in a new remake of this childhood classic, I knew not only I had to see it but I knew it would be amazing. And to my delight, amazing it was. Will Stacks played by Jamie is a wealthy man whose heart and life was fulfilled when he met Annie (played by Quvenzhane.) Together they share the joys of exploring the world of New York City together and the woes of finding Annie’s parents. Overall the movie was touching, it was funny, it was bright and cheerful for kids and also intriguing for adults. It had some of the classic Annie songs and also some new songs that were great! Honestly, I love hearing Jamie Foxx sing so I enjoyed listening to him share his musical talents in the movie. Overall the movie closely resembled the storyline that we all are familiar with but the new upgraded twist is more relatable and also relevant to the times now. Put Annie at the top of your holiday fun list, you’ll love it!
